Scarlett: 4 weeks!

Our little lady is 4 weeks! Time flies when you're taking care of a newborn.
 Scarlett has a BIG personality and has kept us very busy. She's like her mother and is not shy about making her opinions known! :) The swing is our lifesaver....she loves staring up at the rotating lambs.  The pacifier is our second crutch as she loves to suck. Our third necessity is Jeremy's high energy as he runs around the house  jiggling, shaking, swaddling, rocking, shhhhing, and making other weird noises to keep his daughter happy. Pretty hysterical!

We managed our first night out to dinner with friends and left S with "Mimi" and "Bop"-- they survived 4 hours of babysitting and we enjoyed a yummy sushi dinner with the Bluffs and Knueppels.

"Nonna" is flying up this weekend to spend the weekend with us and we are so excited to see her and show her how much Scarlett has changed and grown.  S is smiling, cooing, and developing her very funny personality more and more each day. She is also a healthy eater and has gained 2 lbs 8 oz since birth, totaling 10 lbs 14 oz!-- we are blown away at how "sturdy" she has become :)

Scarlett: 1 week

Scarlett is officially one week old! It's been an adventure so far. After 4 nights in the hospital, we came home a little groggy and jumped right into parenthood with our little one who has a GREAT set of lungs! :)

Today she went to the pediatrician and she weighs in at 8lbs 9 oz-- 3oz more than her birth weight! The Dr was very impressed at our healthy eater.

I had a great first Mother's Day-- a relaxing lunch and quick wine taste in Sonoma with Jeremy and Scarlett, my in-laws, and brother-in-law, Luke, who was in town visiting.

Today was my first day home ALONE! Jeremy went back to work, so Scarlett and I were on our own-- So far, so good. We've both taken 3 hour naps, managed a quick walk with Hazel, and nursed A LOT. Jeremy will be home from work any minute and we are cooking up some homemade turkey burgers.

Scarlett Isabel Arrives!

We are thrilled to share that Baby King is a GIRL! Scarlett Isabel finally arrived on Sunday, May 2nd at 10:47 a.m, 9 days overdue and after 2.5 days of induced labor and 3 hours of pushing! She weighed in at 8 lbs 6 oz and is 21 inches long. Not only is she a big girl, but she has big cheeks (could store food for the winter in there!), big blue eyes, and a BIG personality! She sat nameless for 24 hours since we were convinced she was a boy, but the name "Scarlett" definitely suits this little lady.

We arrived home this morning after 4 nights in the hospital and are happy to share that we are settling in wonderfully. Scarlett loves to eat, be held, and be rocked in her swing. She hasn't quite mastered the love for sleep yet, but we are working on that :)

Thanks so much for all the calls, emails, texts, and visits! We are loving getting to know Scarlett and can't wait to share her with all of you!

Off to the hospital!

We are off to have this baby! No, not in labor....but 8 days overdue. I have stopped gaining weight and my belly hasn't grown in over 2 1/2 weeks, a clear sign that it's time for this baby to make his/her debut! So, I'm being induced this morning in hopes that this baby will arrive over the weekend.  Jeremy will be updating everyone once we have something to report :)

41 weeks!

We are THRILLED to find out if this wild child is a boy or girl and saying lots of prayers that everything goes smoothly and Baby King is healthy.

It was such a weird (and very exciting!) feeling walking out the door knowing that we will be returning with a new little member of our family.

DUE DATE!

Well, April 23rd has arrived.....without a baby. My patience is wearing thin! I'm ready to meet this kiddo.

Last week, my Doc told me that there was a 5% chance that I'd go into labor in the next week and a half. Apparently I'm a 42-43 week type of gal, lucky me :)
My final weigh-in hit 29 pounds and my belly measured the same for the past two weeks, which is an indication that the baby has dropped and is ready to arrive. So, we scheduled to induce me on Friday, April 30th at 10pm! Now, it's just a waiting game. I am meeting with my Doc on Monday for my 41 week appt and to do a stress test. Jeremy and Peg are tagging along too.

In the meantime, I'm trying to keep myself as busy as possible. Our house and carpets have been cleaned, I've cooked up a storm and stocked the freezer for our first week home, I got a massage, and I "supervised" Jeremy's backyard project last weekend. He was a very hard-working hubby and layed our new cobblestone pavers and built a beautiful planter box with flax and lavender. We are going to attempt to get the vegetable garden done this weekend as well!  I will post an update after my Doc appt on Monday. Happy weekend!

39 weeks

T-minus 6 days until my due date!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I'm so excited to meet our kiddo (and say good-bye to pregnancy!)!

39 weeks

I had a great first week on maternity leave-- had daily lunches with girlfriends, got my hair done, cleaned the house, spent some quality time with Miss Hazel, and had multiple dinners with our favorite locals, the Knueppels and Bordessas! Such a great week of vacation.

Last week as our one and only...

My 40 week appointment is on Tuesday and I'm hoping for something, ANYTHING, that would lead me to believe that this child is coming. As of last week, we still had nothing to report.

We are off to a fun dinner tonight with our wonderful friends, Morgan & Kennon. They are due June 1st with their first baby, so we are getting in as much couple-time as we can before life gets crazy!

We are ready for what awaits us....well, as ready as two rookie parents can be!

38 weeks

Today is my last day of work! YAY! I've been counting down since January and am so excited that the day has arrived. My staff threw me a darling baby shower on Tuesday after school to wish me farewell and spoiled Baby King. They are so thoughtful. Goodbye Madrone H.S.!

At my 38 week appt this week, my Dr told me that there is no progress. We scheduled my tentative induction date for Friday, April 30th- three weeks from today! It's crazy to think that in the next 3 weeks, our life will change with the addition of a new member. Poor Hazel, no one has told her yet :) I'm up to 26 pound weight gain and my belly is huge! I have no idea how much bigger it can get?!  My hospital bag is packed and waiting :)

Off to have a great weekend celebrating at a baby shower and having dinner with friends.
