Scarlett 21 Months & 35 Week Preg Update

Pregnancy Update: 35 weeks!

Now, 35 weeks

Last pregnancy at 35 weeks

Here's what's going on with baby #2 in a nutshell....
How Far Along: 35 weeks
Weight Gain: 19.5 pounds (WOAH! Up 7 lbs since the last update!)
Baby's Size: 5.5 lb & 18" long
Movement: Not as much rolling and flipping since there isn't much room- just lots of jabs. I'm still not sleeping :(

Measuring: On track! Baby finally slowed down and is measuring exactly where it should.
Mama's Health: I am anemic after all. Ugh. Now I'm on iron supplements for the rest of the pregnancy.
Gender Prediction: BOY. Yes, and I'm sewing lots of boy stuff in preparation, which means I could be jinxing myself?!
Names: Still to be determined. We have yet to break out the name book. There's still time....?!

Etc.:   Our house is almost ready to accommodate another body. The baby will be in a mini crib in our room for the first few weeks/months/how long we can tolerate him/her! We have a few minor home improvement projects left, and then we are ready!

Scarlett 21 Month Update

January FLEW by! We are loving every minute we have left with just Miss Scarlett. She is such a silly, silly little girl. We signed her up for preschool for the fall, which I know she will just LOVE. Now we are just trying to stay busy until the baby arrives.
Newest Tricks
Potty Training is still going awesome. The days are down pat, and diapers still for naps and night. This mama is so happy to only have one in diapers come March!

Talking-- Scarlett takes after her chatterbox parents and talks, talks, talks. Yesterday she put together her first 4-word sentence, "Mama, I did it!" I can almost always understand what she is saying, so her frustration level is minimal.

This girl is also QUITE the monkey! We have been going to kindergym 1-3 times a week for the past 6 months and it is absolutely remarkable how strong and coordinated she has gotten in that time! She can climb a ladder, walk the beam, jump on the trampoline, pull herself up on the bar and rings, and can do the zipline ALL BE HERSELF! She loves it all!

Scarlett's Favorite Toy This Month
Her purse! Scarlett's babysitter gave her a purse and she is absolutely obsessed. We never leave home without it. And it is always stuffed with a few trains & miniature baby dolls or animals. She is my little shadow, so if I'm carrying my purse on my shoulder/forearm/wrist, she will do the same. Quite the lady :)

Biggest Thrill
Scarlett LOVES activities. She looks forward to each thing that we do on a weekly basis: park, music class, kindergym, playdates, daycare, & storytime at the library. She asks every morning for the daily agenda!

Biggest Highlight/Biggest Challenge

Highlight-- After MONTHS of reminding, prompting, & repeating, Scarlett has started to use her manners on her own! It's not constant, but about once or twice a day, a "Thank you, mama" or, "More snacks, please!" comes out all on it's own! I get VERY excited about that! The rest of the time, we remind her to use her "big girl words" and she says them immediately and without hesitation (still pretty good).

Challenge-- Our challenge the past month is teaching Scarlett to cope with not getting what she wants when she wants it. I think that is going to be a constant challenge throughout the next year. We remind her that big girls don't cry when they don't get what they want, etc, etc, and that usually works. But it is hard and frustrating for all of us!

  Sweetest Moment

Scarlett is getting really good at solo play. I love listening to her play with her doll house and with her baby dolls. It goes to show me that she hears everything I/we say, because she mimics us with when she talks to her dolls. I love hearing her use those same expressions or sayings that we use at home.
Last week, I caught her rocking her dolly on the couch saying sweetly, "No cry dolly, no cry."
I just love this age and think she is absolutely precious.

Visiting with Papa for the weekend

Being silly with Daddy & Hazel

Taking a "nap" with Coco Dolly

xoxo, the kings!
